nope, i don't mean the baby inside of me... but the baby that has always been faithfully giving me the best protection on the road for the past 1 year and 9 months. i am talking about my Lancer baby... this was what happened yesterday (14th July, 2008)...
the right rear side of my poor baby was damaged by a malaysian motor biker. and this is not the only damage left on my car. even my back window was scratched, the wheel was scratched and the right side mirror was flunged outwards (thank God the mirror was still in tact!). Q: the exact location where the accident happened? A: along Pan Island Expressway (PIE), just before i wanna get out to Jalan Bahar exit. i was on the last lane. Q: what time was it when the accident happened? A: it should be around 7.20am. i was on my way to work, and i was SOOOOO CLOSE to my workplace then! Q: what was the weather, road and traffic condition like then? A: fine weather, slightly cloudy, but no rain. road was dry. traffic condition was moderately heavy. the cars are moving at around 50-60kmh. Q: are there any eye-witnesses? A: apparently, no! but there are a few kind souls who stopped along the side to help us out. if it weren't for them, i think i would just stand there traumatised, not knowing what to do next. those kind souls helped the driver and the pillion rider up from the ground and walk them to the side of the road. they suffered from minor scratches on the arm and elbow, and the rider's leg was sprained. then they helped us inform the police. Q: what did i do next? A: first thing, i called a colleague and told her i wont be going in to work coz got into an accident. and then i called my dear hubby to inform him and requested him to take time off from his busy work schedule to come and help me. so he managed to get his boss' car and permission to come help me. Q: the last thing i can remember? A: the car in front of me jammed brake... so i did tat too, to avoid hitting him... and then the next thing that happened... "BANGGG!" and there on the next lane was 2 guys and a motorbike on the ground. it happened so fast that i tot it was the car behind me that banged onto me. i didnt even realised that there was a motorbike nearby. my first reaction to the accident was... "SHIT LAH!!" and then i pulled over to the road shoulder... Q: so, what exactly happened here?? A: seriously, i was left in a shocked mode to even ask the riders what happened on scene! but all i can gather from him (in bits and pieces) in the police station was that he was looking out for a lorry on the next lane and trying to avoid it, but he didnt realise my car was there. Q: what did we do after making the police report? A: we made a report (again!!) to the motor insurance, and brought the car into the workshop only to find out that they do not do third party claims on foreign insurance company (they KS lah!). so dear hubby called our own insurance agent and asked what we can do next... the advice was to claim the repair under "Own Damage" and then the insurance company will seek third party claim from the malaysian insurance company... but no guarantees lah. sigh... hopefully they will be able to make the claim, if not we will have to pay more for insurance premium next year. we realise that since this is the only thing we can do, we might as well send the car to Cycle and Carriage workshop as our car is still under warranty. after leaving the first workshop, we sent his boss' car back, and then went home to get the insurance certificate, and then drove off to Mitsubishi Cycle and Carriage's workshop to do the necessary paper work and left the car there. the repair will take about 10 days. so in the meantime, we will be car-less! by the time we settle all these, it was about 1pm already! half day gone! Q: what's next? A: he called his dad to check out where he is... thankfully he is nearby. so his dad came to pick us up from Mitsubishi showroom and then we went to my gynae's clinic for a check up. Q: and how's the little one doing? A: she's unhurt from the trauma, thank God! somehow i thought i felt abit of contractions when we were on the way to the clinic... but the gynae said she's still not ready to come out yet. we'll give her another 3 to 5 weeks to say HELLO to all the world.\ ok, end of account! |
